CodaKeys Beta Terms
Effective October 5, 2026
1. These terms
CodaKeys is made by Bostick Technologies and Art LLC, a New York limited liability company ("we", "us"). These terms are an agreement between you and us. By downloading, installing or using the CodaKeys beta, you agree to them. If you use CodaKeys for an organization, you agree for that organization and confirm you may. You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live.
2. Your licence
During the beta, CodaKeys is free. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use it on Macs you own or control, for any lawful purpose, including making music you sell. You may not:
- sell, rent, share or redistribute CodaKeys, or offer it as a service to others
- copy, modify, decompile or reverse-engineer it, except where the law allows this despite these terms
- remove its copyright, licence or trademark notices
- use it to break the law or anyone else's rights
We own CodaKeys and everything in it except the third-party parts in Section 7. This licence is the only right you get in it.
3. What "beta" means
CodaKeys is unfinished. It may crash, behave unexpectedly, or lose or damage projects, recordings and other files. Keep backups of anything you care about. We may change or remove features, release updates, or end the beta at any time, and a beta version may stop working after it ends.
4. Your work
You own the music, projects, recordings and other work you make with CodaKeys. We claim no rights in it. Your work stays on your Mac: we don't receive it, except what you choose to send us, for example with a bug report.
5. Claude Code and other services you connect
CodaKeys' AI assistant is Claude Code, software made by Anthropic. You install it with Anthropic's own installer and sign in with your own Claude plan or API key. CodaKeys never sees your sign-in. Anthropic's terms govern your use of Claude Code, and any Claude usage is billed to you by Anthropic.
CodaKeys also works with other services you choose to connect, such as ElevenLabs, Freesound and Google, and with plug-ins and tools you install. When you use those features, CodaKeys sends what the feature needs (for example your prompt, a selected part of your song, or an audio clip) straight from your Mac to that service, under your account. Their terms and prices apply, you are responsible for your accounts, keys and fees, and we are not responsible for those services.
6. AI output
AI suggestions, generated audio and other output can be wrong, can sound like existing works, and may not be protected by copyright. Review it before you use it. You are responsible for what you make and release, including making sure it doesn't infringe anyone's rights.
7. Third-party components
CodaKeys includes open-source and other third-party components, each under its own licence. The full list and licence texts ship with the app (Help > Acknowledgements). Those licences govern those components, and nothing in these terms limits your rights under them.
8. Feedback
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely, without paying you or crediting you.
9. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect. In short: the CodaKeys app sends us nothing unless you turn on its crash and performance reports or its update checks, and the website keeps your email address only if you sign up for updates or ask to join the beta.
10. No warranty
CODAKEYS IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND THAT CODAKEYS WILL WORK WITHOUT ERRORS, INTERRUPTION OR DATA LOSS.
11. Limit of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST DATA, PROJECTS, RECORDINGS, PROFITS OR REVENUE, ARISING FROM CODAKEYS OR THESE TERMS, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD THEY WERE POSSIBLE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS IS LIMITED TO FIFTY US DOLLARS ($50).
Some places don't allow these limits; there, they apply only as far as the law allows.
12. Ending
You can stop using CodaKeys at any time by deleting it. We may end your licence if you break these terms, or when the beta ends. Sections 4 and 6 to 15 still apply after that.
13. Governing law
New York law governs these terms. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in New York County, New York, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction.
14. Changes
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here with a new effective date; if a change is significant, we'll also say so in the app or by email to people who signed up. Using CodaKeys after a change means you accept it.
15. Trademarks
CodaKeys™ is a trademark of Bostick Technologies and Art LLC. Claude and Claude Code are trademarks of Anthropic, PBC. Other names belong to their owners. CodaKeys is not affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic or any other company named here.
